Several members of this online community weighed in with their reactions to the soon-to-be former employee's predicament. Sure, in an ideal world, this author would sustain a healthy relationship with her boss long after she left. However, since her boss seemed to value blind loyalty above all else, that goal to seek common group proved to be entirely unrealistic.
Hopefully, her boss's behavior lights a fire to motivate the author as she plans her exit. This woman should just be focused on wrapping up projects to facilitate a smooth transition. Instead, she is being asked to take on far more than she normally would just for the possibility to gaining a future reference. In short, this is simply not worth it. In the meantime, we suggest that the author do her best to spend her final two weeks doing what she initially planned to do (in other words, her job). Anything else is a total waste of time because, let's be real, a temperamental boss like this would not be a reliable reference anyway.
